Where do I find Havelock?
Located between Picton and Nelson, this authentic and historic little fishing port is the ideal gateway to the stunning Marlborough Sounds. The delicious green shell mussels already attract lots of visitors – but it's the distinctive charm and charisma of this town, that will make you want to stay here.
More about Havelock
Weather you're after the breath-taking views of Marlborough Sounds, the scenic tracks of Nydia and Queen Charlotte, a 15 lb snapper on your hook or some of the world's most famous wines – Havelock has it all within 30 minutes by car. Spend the hours of daylight on tranquil waters or flourishing forests, and finish the evening with a steamy mussel chowder by the fire in the cosy and character-filled lounge of Ernest Rutherford's old school building; these days the Rutherford YHA Backpackers and Havelock Infocentre.
